Crestor Lawsuit
Crestor side effects have been the subject of much recent controversy, perhaps more so than any other cholesterol lowering medication introduced to date especially in light of the Baycol drug recall. Baycol, similar to Crestor was touted as a "super statin" before its recall from the market. Despite numerous objections from medical researchers and reputable consumer groups, including Public Citizen, due to safety concerns, the drug was approved by the FDA in August of 2003, and launched a month later.
The original application filed with the FDA by manufacturer AstraZeneca was delayed due to safety concerns during clinical trials. There were reports of kidney damage and a life-threatening condition known as rhabdomyolysis, a breakdown of muscle cells. Since its approval, Crestor has been linked to cases of rhabdomyolysis, renal failure and at least one death.
In addition to serious muscle and kidney problems, much research has shown that Crestor side effects could include sexual dysfunction and performance problems, as well as liver damage, memory loss, personality changes and irritability.
